« on: March 25, 2013, 03:14:26 am »
My Uncle surprised me today by giving me this saw

I dumped the fuel that was in it put fresh fuel in it played with carb a little and it fired right up

I've ordered a carb it for it

And I've tore in down a little to clean it up

Oooh.. i forgot to say be careful with the fuel pic-up line, its hard to put it together without damage it.

and it helps to make a seal of a piece fuel-line ( for a better seal ) the old fuel-line is harden and will leak without this

little seal ;)

They can be a little pecker wood to get the shrouding off to get to anything .Who ever designed it must have thought it amusing to hid half the screws .

what about that horrible coil. you have to take the flywheel off to get it out. also the hidden screw in the gas tank requires a very narrow screwdriver. and what about those bolts for the cylinder you need another long and very narrow torx which is usally a snap on tool. the person who designed this should have their stock options revoked.

I bet I clean out over a pound of oil soaked wood chips out of the saw from the starter unit and the back end of the saw; now cleaning around the cylinder side of the saw  ;)

Then a little MM then put it together when the parts arrive

I've got one I need to tear down to get to the carb .When I do there will not be one slotted screw put back in it .This will be the second and last time I'll ever fight with slotted screws .About 2-3 bucks worth of Torx heads will cure that problem forever .

BTW Torx head drivers are not that costly .You can get them with screwdriver handles ,tee handle ,socket type ,ball head swivel style of you want .I've got several  tee handles ,a set of screwdriver type and several 6" long hex end that I use with a torque wrench .

I doubt you could punish the guy  that designed that thing  unless you dig him up and grind his bones for concrete mix .
