That's a good thing because there most be a zillion dead ones killed by a fried top end .If you bought OEM stuff you'd have half the price the damned thing cost new .

I figured it would just be a matter of time that the need would supply the means .The time evidently is here .

I hope it works out because they are dynamite little trim saws .

That was an 020 AV top handle not  a 200T .

The average 020T or 200T will make two cuts in 8" cants in around 15 seconds .Kevin had the fastest stock 200T I have ever seen and I have a modified version that will make the cuts in around 11 seconds .

Quite honestly these saws in stock form need nothing done to them excepting removal of the baffle screen assembley .

They were born to be hot runners ,huge transfers for their size and other designs .The weak link is the bearing type used .It's my assumption the roller bearing design was used because it has less drag than a ball bearing .The downfall is lack of side thrust capability .However having known that if the owners kept an eye on same it should be expected to have a longer life than the average of less than 5 years of usage as most report .

I'm certainly  no design genius but I cannot figure out why noone recognized the weak link long ago until I mentioned it .Makes no sense at all .Oh I can understand perfectly well why Stihl never mentioned it .

The fix is a matter of around 60 bucks OEM prices and an hour and a half if that .One tenth the price it sold for new .To get a shop rebuild with bearings ,top end you'd have way more than new price in it .

That would certainly be worth a try for the price . I'm thinking if you went OEM it would be over 300.

FWIW there a couple of 200T's on flea bay sitting at a low price .If I had more time I'd delve into them and try one of those top end kits .

I had passed on one 020T for $150 already (ran but had issues).  Felt I would have had way to much in it when done to resale, so I passed.

Looking at another for more but supposedly better shape.  Hopefully check it out soon.

So on the  stihl 020T  the only differences between it and the 200T were?  screw in caps instead of flippy, carb was walbro instead of zama. Anything else?
