i bought a real nice 024 woodboss avs that had been setting for a while. i know the "supers" are supposed to have a longer stroke? does AVS mean it is a super? i need the jug off of it, so i measured it against a standard jug. one is stihl, one is mahle. they both measure the same from the squish band to the base,  same stroke. both pistons are the same height exactly. so what gives, i want to put this top-end on a non-super saw. i just do not want to destroy anything. are the differences in the crank?  or could it just be my saw has the "super" covers on it? please give me some insight here guys,  thank you

So just, put the phone down with my friend, the woodboss avs has the 026 house and krank but cilinder and piston are the same  AV and woodboss AVS( note: it could be that the topcover might not fit after the swap and PUT THE PISTON AND CYLINDER WITHOUT THE RINGS LOSE TOGETHER AND SEE IF IT TURNS ALL THE WAY  )

The 026 has the 2 mm longer krankshaft ;)

Cheers ,
Saul

Well you can do what you want .I had the bright idea of changing the cylinder on mine to an 026 but after I gutted the muffler it pepped it up enough I'm not going to do any more to it .

Now these little things never will be an oak slayer but if you can get them to breathe right they are a pretty neat little light weight .The things are light as a feather ,a tank of gas lasts forever .Up to maybe 12 inch stuff they get er done pretty good .

I don't think they would be a good cantidate for a 3 cube cookie cutter because it lacks a full 1/2 cubic inch .That's a bunch when you are only dealing with 3 cube to begin with .

i checked, and rechecked all of the specs today. one jug is a stihl, and one is a mahle, one has open, and one has closed transfers. but the bore depth/stroke inside the jugs are within .010 of each other. is it at all possible the extra displacement comes from the crank? the crankshafts in each of the cases are definately different.

I don't know what was said earlier but a 024 has a 30mm stroke. the 024 Super and 026 have a 32mm stroke.

EDIT: I see someone has already said that.
