The old timers would go by the color

A blue spark was best

There are devices sold to attach to the spark plug wire that will indicate a spark with the plug in the engine.

I think Stihl sells them but you might find a cheaper one at the auto parts?



spark is red white at plug must be weak.......air gap should be .008 to .012 according to manual...... i have it set to .010
also found a nick in the plug wire think it was grounding out there put electrical tape on it for now got it started but ordered a new ignition module thanks for all the replies.....Chris.....
