Stihl 026 Carb issues
« on: January 23, 2012, 10:08:28 pm »
Hello everyone, I have a Stihl 026 (not pro) with a Walbro wt194 carb. I have kitted the carb and completely dismantled the carb and cleaned it thoroughly and installed the new kit. I installed a new fuel line with filter and the intake line. I checked the intake for leaks and it had none. I reassembled the carb and backed out the high and low screw out 1 turn. It is idling good but when I give it gas it is bogging down and not reeving up at all. It is also shooting gas out of the back of the carb when I give it gas. Any ideas do I need a new carb?

Fatten up the low speed a tad and see what that does . For what ever reason you're not getting enough pressure drop across the venturi and it's spitting back .

Hmm kinda reminds me of  an intern and a blue dress ---won't go there . :-X

When you say fatten up you mean back it out? If so I have done that several times and done it while giving it gas the same result each time ???

Ok I adjusted this carb every way possible using 1/8 turns at a time. Any other ideas before I buy a new carb?

What kind of psi does the saw have and is the intake side of the piston skirt worn?

What do you mean by intake line? Do you mean impulse line? I bought a 357 that would only idle and the impulse hole was blocked. Once unblocked. It ran great.

Impluse line hole is clear, pulled the muffler and the piston looks great. It has over 150 psi compression. I am completly stumped ???

I bought a new twin needle carb for my 025 for $20 and change. I don't know what they are for the 026. My used 026 came with a Walbro WT-194  twin needle carb.

Anyway, Stihl has new lower prices for carbs. Wouldn't hurt to check?
