I'm going to compare to the PP346 45cc and EHP5000 redmax when done. I heard this topend would like a big carb and intake, but I am just going to run what came on the 026.

Well got the gasket in this evening.  ;D  Learned valuable lessons I had forgotten. Dont get in a hurry putting something back together.

I bet I done everything 2 to 3 times over   and caught that I had put the 5x12mm bolts in the cylinder when I was getting ready to put the muffler on and only had 3 5x20mm bolts .  :-X  :-[  Not only wrong bolts I was missing 1.  Never found it and I keep the bolts in a magnetic bowl.
Went to throw a 3/8 7 on it and square CL and forgot about the mini stihl drum  >:(  so I had to put a mini stihl 325 8 and run the 325 RM2 063 chain I had for that bar.

Gobs of compression and might put the de-comp in it instead of the plug. Just in case someone down the road may need it someday.

Soon as I get the mini 3/8 7 or oregon 3/8 7 drum set up I will test and compare.

What I was thinking and saying to myself.

I've made base gaskets .Simpley because I had cut the base down down somewhat off the mark of where I wanted it to be ,duh .

All kinds of things work .The cover from National Geographic,Budweiser cartons ,even Mountain Dew .I've even used regular gasket paper .Imagine that . ;D

I had homemade gasket on hand Al, but it was to thick and other stuff I had was to thin. This pop up piston and cylinder was cut to run a .5mm gasket and oem had one to set the squish nice and tight without hitting.  ;)

I just tested the redmax 5000 , husky 346 OE 45cc, stihl 026 pro 44mm.

I ran the redmax, husky, stihl in that order and all had air filters and ran same stihl chain out of the box sharp 3/8 RSC.  All 3 were tuned fat low 14 to 14.4 and running 3/8 7T rim.

I could tell the difference in the 026 compared to the 5000 and 346 from the warm up. Throttle response wasnt crisp and snappy like the other 2 and just a different sounding motor. Have a good idea why, but I dont care. It's going to be used for a work saw and lot better then a stock 026.  ;D

Fastest 2 times from 4 cuts in 12 inch round poplar.

redmax 5000  2.66 2.69
husky OE 346  2.60 2.65
stilh 026         3.44  3.47

Just thought of something. The 5000, 346, had fine mesh filters and the 026 had the flocked filter.   Might check the 026 without a filter someday just to see.

The flocked of course is a better filter but it's more restrictive .

Interestingly though I sometimes forget what I'm doing although I know better .Last week I got into some big,I mean huge trees which had some rot .All the suddened my good old 038 Mag took a fit on me .After fiddling around way too long on it I finally figured out the flocked filter was plugged tighter than a bulls azz at fly time ,duh .Geeze and I call myself a sawman but sometimes wonder about that . .
