Stihl 030 basically a 031? Never worked on a 030 but several 031. So thought I better ask.

 Out of the 030,031,032 service manual.
 The previous service manual for models 030 and 031 has been discontinued. As the models are identical in design, the  repair procedures in this manual can be used on the 030,031.

Looking around on mike acres site. It has 030 45cc - 031 48cc and 032 51cc is that right?
Know it is 50/50 the info could be wrong there. Why asking.

Still dont know if this is right. Just what I am finding on 50/50 right acres site.
030 = 42x32, 031 = 44x32 and 032 45x32. So bore is shown larger by 2mm on 30 to 031 and 3mm bigger on 32

The 032 ipl lists a 45 mm piston
The 030,031 ipl lists a 44mm and 45 mm piston - ipl is dated 2004
The first listing in the Intertec chainsaw manual for the 030 and 031 is the 4th edition(1974). It lists the 030 piston as 42 mm and 031 piston as 44mm??? wtf

The 45mm piston from the 032 can be used as a replacement part on the 030, 031. Because of having less spare parts and more storage capacity, the 44mm piston and cylinder were dropped. Found that information on an old bulletin.

My experience with this design is rather limited .One that was in a dealers dead pile and one a neighbor bought that was badly out of tune .On the later I tuned it in and all things considered it didn't cut too bad .

A close friend bought a 031 new in the late 70's I think, I was logging my property with an XL-12 and a 045 and used his 031 a time or two and liked it better than what I had.
I think points an condenser was high priced and if not set with a light or ohm meter wouldn't run good at all, he never did change it over to electronic, still has it and uses it some too.
