If it was all sawdusted up that might be the only thing wrong with it .It's surprising how many saws, blowers, weed cutters etc they never think to look at the air filter .

On the bright side all clogged up they don't run out lean .

Yesterday after testing the 034 with 036 topend and the 360 tank. I decided I am not going to go through the trouble of putting a older 034 036 tank on it because of the guy wanting it OCD that dont like the 360 tank setting crooked. LOL. I am worried being it is a very early 034av with 2 piece dust cover side etc that a 036 tank may even set crooked. So not going to take the chance. Thanks to all that replied to help with a tank though.

One good thing I found out yesterday while pulling seals. That black cylinder was OEM. Maybe someone had painted it.

Also modded the muffler and opened up that cage on back half and opened up the front exit cover too.

Also ran new echo 3mm 5mm fuel line through the stihl tank grommet. Not shown in these old pics

Seals installed today.

Done and to make it even better I figured out why the 360 new tank set crooked on the early 034av case. Something I missed when I pulled the right side AV's to make sure right. I didnt pull the left rear one and it was installed wrong when the tank was put on before me. I reinstalled the rear AV rubber and it moved right over. Has 036 stihl cylinder with meteor piston kit. Running strong.

Just to show how the tank used to set.

Got this ole stihl 034 with 036 topend back and 360 tank in today on trade.     Got it from Al back in 2011 on a trade too.

Thinking seals etc issues now.

Saving this info where Cale bloodontheice got me figured out on the crankcase. Early 034  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/stihl/stihl-034/msg5072/#msg5072

The cover you need is a 2 piece one
1125 021 1200
1125 021 1100

The metal plate is
1128 664 1002

2 piece dust cover set up on early 034.

Doesn't use the bottom 3rd screw shown.  = c+p The smaller lower piece has a molded peg that is part of the molded cover piece, that fits into the 4mm hole on the saw. The peg is split lengthwise so it has a little bit of spring like tension inside the hole but the peg seems to be more for locating the part than retaining it.

Being a Redneck. I looked at my later 034 036 1 piece dust cover and thought I can make that work with some rednecking. Cut here an there and drill a hole.

Later side plate still but will do even though no hole in case to hold on early cases. Used different style with pressure clips.

To reiterate on that thing .It was a hodge podge saw mistreated by the employees of a tree service company .I had no idea what had happened to cause the use of the flip cap tank .I think I ran that thing about 15- 20 minutes after I changed the piston and used the 036 cylinder .Often wondered what became of it,glad you got it sorted out .It should be a strong runner .Good job .

Came back in trade for my labor on another saw. Needing seals, fuel line, etc etc.  Thought I would go ahead and make it alittle better this time around.   Just getting the tank to set straight tickled the heck out of me.

Yep it is pieced together for sure.
Tried aftermarket seals in it to see how they hold up. They looked good.
So far runs good for a  62cc.

a lot late but I have a 034AV on the bench and the tilly carb had the plastic fuel inlet elbow craccked....part is NLA from stihl and tillotson. carb was pretty crusty and corroded internally so i was going to replace it with the $90 zama from stihl until I figured out that none of the linkages will work with the updated carb. I went back to the redneck in me and with slight modification i was able to press the walbro fuel inlet into the tillotson carb. another 5 minutes with a dremel cleaning corrosion from the carb body, new kit....she runs like a dream and instead of a $90 carb plus labor the customer is getting off with $12 in parts and an hour in labor. same with the muffler....1/2 hour labor to weld new tabs on the cover and make it useable again vs buying a new $55 muffler because the AM mufflers dont fit the 034

walbro fuel inlet # 128-166-1
5105H and 6400H in stock

I was wondering which one would fit.
I just grind the metal collar down that the plastic one slid over. Then ran echo line over it like normal.
