I never really liked the look or feel of it either. Now I haven't run a saw with it, but when I bought my 361 as NOS  at the beginning of the 362s I found 2,one with and one without the extra brake. I went without it and don't think I made a bad choice. Just one more thing to break,  and as stated if I wanted the brake on it would be set the normal way. I didn't know it went back to the "0" models though?
