i found this old saw in a grand fathers box but in parts.
piston and cylinder looks very nice!
does anyone has a 040 ipl?
i can t find it...

Info on stihl 040 I found when I got one in. Pretty sure you can just use stihl 041 IPL.  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/stihl/stihl-040-2670/

thanks you re still the best. i think the saw is in order to start, the piston move nicely in the cylinder with compression. im a bit afraid about the old ignition system. is it easy to setup and tune? what about the old capacitor?
do you think i waste my time with this saw?

What I think and what you think will be different. To me it is a collector saw to have with 40th anniversary history in the thread link.  I wouldnt use one personally.  But would be cool to have running cutting for show and tell of 40th.

ok i will try to rebuild the muséum saw! my bigger saw is a 026 so it could help sometimes. and i love the old way of building with strong materials.
and the saw is older than me!
