Stihl 066 660 MS660
« on: March 02, 2018, 10:43:52 am »
Looks like after selling a 5 saws off last few days and few more are coming in to go through to replace them. One is this 066 and a husky 350 351.

Cant find my old thread right now so will merge later.

Noticed a few busted fins on cylinder. But know big deal to me.

Said pulls 150psi.  But has erratic idle and starts revving high when cutting. Sounds like crank seals to me.

Just thought of something, maybe a torn boot too.

Torn boot usually means worn out mounts or they really pulled on it hard once

Picked up at 6pm last night when kid headed back to college.  Got home about 7pm

Worked on it till about 8pm last night looking things over.  Carb looks new.  Air filter old style wire and cloth type I never liked. Going to get a Newer HD or HD2.

Replaced Impulse line. I suspect that right now.

Cylinder bolts all 4 were loose.

Motor mount AV was torn. Happen to have a new oem leftover from years past owning these.

Noticed chain was turning toward the end while pulling over. So have all the innards pulled right now.  Oiler worm gear, clutch, etc. Cleaning back up then see.

Hope to figure out if it was impulse later today.

Also noticed they were running 404 8T 24"   Got 3 hardly used chains with it.

Happy Dance =  just needs little things now, AF, and few fasteners.

Test cut with 24" 404 8T buried in dry ash log.

Opened the rear cage wide open and put a 404 7 on it for todays test and tune session for new owner. The hyway DP muffler set looks pretty nice.  Even came with both spark screens, even though the side one is on the outside instead of inside like oem.
