Thanks Kevin,

Adam what would you like to know about the jug? I bet he would let me measure some stuff.

Hey David!
Just curious about its origins, stock welded piston?  Looks nicely executed.

Unfortunately, I think Gene's memory may be fading on the details.  I noticed in the box a couple of pistons, one I noticed had a trimmed skirt another had some windows in it.
He claims to have taught Marcel how to put in externals.  The porting on that one jug looks amazing, flawless like it was done buy a machine.  it reminds me of other mvp jugs I have seen pictures of but this one still has the bridge in the transfer.

Around about 1990 a Stihl dealer from Regina, Saskatchewan (he sold a million $ a year of Stihl product at that time ) He raced a 084 and 090 both built by a Frenchman from Quebec.
Looks alot like Eugene's cylinder.....epoxied external transfers and cutoff head .
Those saws were quick as they gave my YZ125 bikesaw a good run for the money.

Sorry for the late reply of almost 1 year.
Ed, yes you are right those saws were sold by John Curry who worked for Stihl out of London, Ontario.
The guy who bought and ran them was Bob Braiden  (B&B Sales, Regina Saskatchewan)

I answered a craigslist add for an AS member,  the seller is a 79 year old retired logger but when I walked in the door he had a Stihl 090 Hot saw on his bench.  It was my pleasure to meet Eugene Villeneuve.  I talked with him for about 2 hours. He started racing in the 60's and had a very good record in many of the bigger shows  he showed me trophys from boonville, he talked about racing at webster. He mentioned personal accounts with Marcel, Remy, chauncey.

Anyway to the point this is his last race saw, said it is in good running shape.  He showed me how the NOS fogger worked and said the system cost 1000.

The saw has a direct drive, no clutch. fan is off the flywheel. it has external ports.
he also has some other jugs carbs pistons and parts that go with it.

I offered to post it on some websites to help him out.  I asked for a price and the tossed out 3000 for a number.  I told I have no idea what the saws are worth so he is willing to entertain offers.

Neat saw and an opportunity to help a plankowner to the timbersport community.
I was just going through some old magazines and found this from 1986. Eugene Villeneuve swung a fast saw back in the day. Many more pics in other issues, I'll post as I find them.

Wow thank you for digging this up. I wish I talked to him more. He had so many trophies and plaques that he was throwing out.

He said he ran Yamaha bike saws for a while and Yamaha. Gave him the porting specs.

Thank you Holmen tree

David do you know if this was sold or not.  Was going to move up to the stihl board so the info gets shared instead of moving to locked sale wanted board if sold.
