Just read a good thread on converting that quick tensioner cover over to old school cover with in crankcase tensioner.

Saving info.

Filler plate replaced with part 1123 664 2205

T27 filler screw replaced with 1123 664 2400

Quick chain adjust cover replaced with 1123 648 0405

Add the bar adjust from front and done with two new bar nuts.

Saving info while fresh in my mind.

Dad said he had issues with the 180 trying to clear shooting lanes and putting up a stand yesterday. Had to get his battery pole saw out to do the work.

Think he said would start and not stay running. Sometimes he thought it had a run on type of higher rpm.

Otherwise worked great all year till yesterday.

Wish he wasnt over 3hrs away.

So far my 180CBE has run perfectly as it came from the factory. It hasn't crossed my mind to change anything about it. I.ve touched up the chain three times. I did have a problem with the choke lever mechanism all came apart. No big deal I new what had happened when it wouldn't shut off one day.

Dads saws back with me. Left the yellow 152 to replace the 3300 he bought new in 93. The 2000 I bought in 94 replaced the minimac he bought in 79. The 180 easy start replaced those 2.
But the 180 he said started acting wonky. When I was down there it wouldnt even fire off.
Between processing a deer today I took a quick look. IMO just time for a carb. Will run long as I squirt mix in it. I wont waste time rebuilding as these are to cheap new.
The other 3 are just getting cleaned someday and going on the shelf.

Some people have been putting the 422 twin needle carb for the 025 on the 170 & 180's. You get them from Stihl too. Last one I bought was $22.

I seen that Nate had said that is what he does. Said some mods inside area to do.

I was curious after buying another crosscut and setting inside. I opened the carb for a look see. Odd the fuel filter looks good but the inside of carb and screen was full of junk. Pump side dia seemed good, check side little stiff.

I got a new carb and a rebuild kit coming.  Maybe at least have a back up carb for him if it works out.

Matt said he is seeing stihl oem filters letting stuff by too. = was getting my filters at stihl, they seemed good and all but every saw I had, the carb was packed full of sawdust and junk. Not sure if it was an old filters that came apart?
