Stihl 200 rear handle saws
« on: August 13, 2014, 10:43:55 am »
I have a line on a couple new Stihl 200 rear handle saws, what is the going price on these. Are they the least bit saleable, or should I pass them up.

They bring good $$$ IMO.

Been looking around to see what they go for but cannot seem to find any useful stats on how much they go for. Not exactly sure what I could get both of them for but probably 800-1000 all up all in for both.

These are ms200s not the 'T' version the climbers use.

There are some that prefer a rear handle for different uses.

You are correct, I have some guys that use 346s in the bucket and sometimes even bigger saws. I have also figured out that the 200 can be converted to a top handle but $$$ and a PITA!

Just the fact that they are brand new 200s may get them sold in short order for you. I'd imagine there's guys who would pay the premium just for parts to keep their 200ts running aside from ones who actually want the rear handle saw.

Quote from: Burn
Depends on the year we're speaking of...$589 is on the low end of the scale, for new, in my experience.  They went for up to and maybe some bit over $625 retail, nearer the end of the production run.

A new, un-used 200 RH would be worth every bit of those last retail prices today, in my estimation.  I don't need one, have a fine example already and don't put real hours on it any more...but if I was not in that situation, I'd pay $575-600, easy.

Obviously, I'm a huge fan of the 200RH :).

I'd go for one if you decide to get them. I have two 200Ts on the shelf that have never seen liquid. Adding a rear handle modeled the line up would be nice. In my opinion, the rear handle hangs from your saddle nicer anyway.
