In between regular maintenance on my running saws I've accumulated a bunch of non running saws. I'd like to get a little information before I start.
I have 5 saws from the 1123 series. 021, 023, 025, and 2 250s. Will top ends interchange from 025/250 to 023? 023 to 021?
I have 029, 029 Super, 039, 390 and 310 from the 1127 family. I'm unfamiliar with the 310, will top ends from the others interchange?
I know I'll find all this out when I get in to them but having this information now will determine how I set out my work. Thank you all for your input.

Yes the top ends will interchange on the 1123 and the 1127 series. From the ms back to the 0 series and vice versa.

I'd like to refine the last post to say that all top ends within the 1123 family will interchange but the cranks are different strokes in some of these. MS & 0

Likewise all the top ends will interchange within the 1127 family MS & 0

Thanks guys. My 310 and 021 are toast but I know where a 021 with strong compression is, asking price is 80. I was going to see how it ran and maybe buy it to combine the two. With what you've told me I'll gamble on the 025, 250s or 023 having a good top end. Out of curiosity, does this extend to the 311, 291, and 391? I've not seen whether these are still in the same series. Thanks again.

The 271/291 seem to be the 1141m family

The 311/391 seem to be the 1140 family?

Thanks 660 for correcting me.

The 021 and the ms 210 share the same crank. If it is a 021 before serial number 34944403 it has a total different crank.
The 023/025 share the same crank as the ms 230/250

This is a little off topic but I have a very early 025 and the rod and big end bearings are like a early 021 with the single counter weight crank. The big end bearings are loose open roller and the rod is straight sided. However, the crank on this early 025 is double counter weight as any 025/MS250 and the rod does not come off like on the early 021.

Little else on this saw is of the early saw except for the cylinder due to wear and tear replacements over the years.

Here is a early one for sale

Great input, thanks guys. That serial number information may come in to play, I'll have to take a look when I get home.
