Stihl MS 170 Compression PSI?
« on: January 15, 2012, 09:47:32 pm »
I'm new to the chainsaw repair.  I recently purchased a Stihl MS 170 that needs some work (I thought that it would be a good project for my sone and I to work on) but I was wondering what the correct compression pressure is supposed to be. Also I have been looking for a repair/service  manual. If anyone could help that would be great!

Thanks

Andy and Brock

Never had a 170. Guessing 140-150psi range and you wouldnt want no lower then 120psi.

I have had a few saws that start, run and cut fine at 120 and I knew they were needing new rings. I have a 372 in that psi right now.  Thats as low as I have seen one start and run good at.
