Stihl MS241
« on: December 30, 2016, 04:07:16 pm »
Hi all. New to this forum and was wondering whether anyone can help me?

I have just acquired a used MS241 saw and need to replace its lightly scored piston (I knew it had a problem when I got it- it would start but would cut out as soon as you blipped the throttle. Done a comp test and barely 90psi. Pulled the exhaust to reveal the scored piston) Anyhow, this is the first 241 I have had to do a piston on and I don't have a workshop manual. The machine is stripped and the barrel has the four torx screws removed and it loose on the top of the crankcase. Carb is all off and all other ancillaries attached to the barrel. The ONLY thing still attached to the rubber intake boot that goes through the plastic body of the saw and is attached to the barrel by two more torx screws. I cannot remove the barrel with the intake boot in place as there is not enough movement in the barrel and I cannot unscrew the boot from the barrel as the torx screws are on the barrel side and the plastic chassis is in the way to get at them. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Look in your Email for the Service Manual?
We should share what we know... someone may learn...
