I wrote this before Al replied in the previous post . . .

The situation discussed by cut4fun, as he observed me, was that the fellow that has never seen a Easy Start before will essentially pick it up and jerk the starter cord all the way out . . . and . . . and . . . nothing happens . . . Then the engine goes through a compression stroke.

Though I did not try it due to time limitations, it was discussed, that possibly, the starter handle could either be pulled out slowly or in several short strokes and the engine then turns over?

We certainly decided that it was not necessary to jerk the starter handle with a deliberate, long hard jerk as we are accustomed to with a non Easy Start chainsaw.

Al,

In illustration "K" of the IPL for the 250, the easy start starter sticks out farther than than a regular starter.

There is a spring housing ( item 15) between the starter pulley and the clutch unit where the pawls engage.

There is also a different flywheel and coil.

It's a clever idea no doubt .The 250 is basically a consumer saw and anything that would make it easier to operate would be a selling point .

When they strated putting compression releases on little 3 cubers I thought WTH .Then it dawned on me why they did it .

It wouldn't be that unusual to see a old 250 with a compression release and/or a Elastostart handle.

Speaking of which .Baileys had some knock off elasto start handles then stopped selling them for some reason . I've got one on one of my 200T's .

Evidently Gregg Grande sent about a half a pick up load of stuff to Brad S who brought it to one of Bill Poors GTG's .Pistons ,handles ,posters of Gerry B in the top of that giant red wood ,just all kinds of stuff .
