The aftermarket fuel line with the silver dot is where it kinks. You can feel a thin spot in the rubber right there too.
Unlike the oem that feels thicker walled.

I tried to shorten the end to take out the kink but nothing helped.

Also had a primer bulb fall apart on a husky 350 I installed it on. Just a bad day for aftermarket parts.

So I ran my redneck fuel line method and she runs like a charm now. Just have to reuse old tank grommet from original line.

Aftermarket stihl fuel line

I cut the aftermarket and oem fuel lines today to look at wall thickness of the kink area.  The oem is almost 3 times as thick on the walls and centered.  The aftermarket is off centered and thin walled compared to oem.  I will get a pic this week.

Well this stihl 290 finally had to come back in today.

Issues, no start and rattling.

I ask owner if he had a minute as I thought I knew what the rattle was.  Got the muffler off and showed him how it was disintegrated  inside.  Also looks like something might have chipped  :-X the top right edge of piston.  Otherwise piston looks fine. Maybe been that way since new or he got lucky and it spit it right back out back into muffler.  :-\

Order a muffler and see about the start issue later.   Also needs a new 18" bar bad.

 8) update: just got off phone and new b+c approved. Told him will order once it is running.   OKed for the muffler mod treatment on the new muffler.  :P

Up and running. New plug and plugged tank vent.  Now to wait on new muffler, B+C etc.

Plug was lose and gap was almost closed. Need to ask owner if he had plug out and dropped it checking things on his own. Then didnt put in all the way.

The chain was one of those ones you just shake your head at  :o ::) . Had to be alot of vibrations to the saw.

Talked to owner. He never removed plug.  So plug got loose and something closed that gap. I still think foreign material from inside the muffler that had ratteled apart got back into it.  There is a small chip on the left side top of piston right if looking in. Plus today looking inside around the inside of sparkplug could see little tiny molten type balls. Looked closer and could see them on top of the piston too.
Got a pic of what I removed from it and seem magnetic as they stuck to the magnet bowl.  Pic of the chip in piston didnt come out and the balls on top of piston but they didnt come out either. .

So what am I seeing here? This is what I could save removing them.

Muffler and bar + chain came in early.  AFM Muffler much lighter then the oem, like how the aftermarket is built.  IMO that can be a good thing on these weight wise.

Muffler modded and tuned with new set up.

Never did figure out where those metal type very small beads came from. Just going to guess from inside the muffler. Cleaned up best I could and checked over and over and seemed to got it.

Also looks like some detonation on the piston above ring area and edge. Guessing running old mix.

Archer bar and chain for the budget minded firewood cutter.

Aftermarket muffler drilled out in middle. Both sides already open nicely as arrived. Deflector opened up some.

CCC caps from ebay per owners request. He likes them over flippy cap big time.
