Yes, they are lighter than a 460.  The cool thing as that the 460 topend can be fitted to the 440.  Here's mine.

Fitted as in how the 066 is being put on the 064 cases?

Exactly.  Both require very slightly slotting of the cylinder base mounting holes.  You also have to trim the bottom side of the plastic engine shroud on the 440.  The 064 requires no other mods unless going with the 066BB.  Then you have to slightly relieve the case for the piston skirts.  Both are pretty straight forward conversions though.

I'm cutting the crotch of an Oak tree here with my 064/066BB.

I think the 372 had the edge power wise. The biggest thing I don't like about them in the oiler is pretty stingy on longer bars. Other than that they're a fine saw. I've had 4 of them. One 10mm 044 and it was the stronger runner than the 440. Two of them were new never fueled that I sold without running them.

Not to get in a war but I think a 372 has an edge over a 44 .Now I've seen some 044's  that were reworked that really had some power .One I ran in about 40 inchs of oak buried to the hilt with a 36" running skip and it never missed a lick .

A 70 cc is midway between and a 60 and and 80 .Not much more weight than  a 60 not as powerfull as an 80 usually .Some prefer them as do I  because of what I use a saw for  and the normal size of the wood . It's a preference more than anything .

Unless they get rid of the 441, I don't see the point on my end, selling them to customers. Most guys here run 24" bars on 70cc saws and if they want a smooth saw, they buy the 441, if they want raw power buy a 460. Most guys who loved the 044/440 who hate the 441 have stepped up and bought 460's at this point. For us the 441 sells just as well as the 440, but that being said I'll be ordering as many 440's as we can afford to stock. And I'll be putting a few away for "a rainy day" to sell a few years down the road.

I just purchased a brand new 460 from a very respectable dealer here in washington state, paid $925 out the door with a 32" oregon bar and a larger gauge chain, dont remember what he called it, but they recommended it.

Is that the going rate for a 460 in most places ? I asked about the 441 and he said we dont stock them because they are almost the same weight with less power and no one wants them ?

I mostly bought it for bucking large wood !

Whats the going rate for a 440 and how much lighter is it than the 460 ?

The owner of the 441 whose bucket truck is in my back drive bought a 460 originally to replace a stolen 440 .He bought it at first because the 440 was no longer available .He later did buy the 441 and as I said is very pleased with it .At the time it was about 100 over the price of a 441.

I ran it and really it doesn't do bad at all .It won't up gun my 038 Mag but neither would his 440 .No matter it still is a fine saw . The 441 is a smooth runner I'll have to say that .Ha Ha Ha it's  just I'm not used to running quiet saws . ;D

I would never let my 372 go to buy a 440, but hopefully if I can get a fair enough buy on the 440 Ill grab one (just cause). Still have a few saws that need to leave the shop, so that should put me in alright shape for saw money!
