Stihl 066 coil
« on: January 21, 2013, 09:42:52 pm »
I have a Stihl 066 with a bad coil.  I have looked at all of the adds on the internet for a replacement, and they advertise 1122-1314 or a 1300 replacement.  My coil is a 1122-1312.  The others all have two mounting holes, and mine has 3.  Can anyone tell me whether the 1314 will fit and work, or where I can get a 1312?

Thanks

Here's a list

What's the number on your flywheel and is it a Poly Flywheel?

Thanks much for the help!!

My flywheel is polymer, but I could not find a number on it.  The coil for the red light is the only one that I have seen that has the same 3 mounting holes as the 1312 that is on my saw (but there are no numbers that match).  Is it a good bet that the universal 1300 would work for my saw?

Thanks again, and very nice fish!

The 1300 coil was more of a match for the aluminum flywheel if you look at those PDF charts

If you have the poly flywheel, you should be able to use a 1314 coil? Will the two hole armature mount on your crankcase?

I never did find anything on the 1312 coils

Thanks again for the help, but I didn't find the answer.

I found the right coil, and replaced the old one.  It still will not fire.  I removed the flywheel and checked the key - no problem.  If the coil is good and the flywheel is properly aligned, it seems to defy the laws of science that there is no fire.  The magnet on the flywheel seems a little weak.  Maybe I'm stretching, but is it possible that the magnet loses its magnetic power?

Thanks,

Yes, compare the magnet strength with some other chainsaws?
