Stihl vs Stihl 028 Super vs. 029 Super
« on: January 25, 2014, 07:36:19 pm »
I have some 028s as mentioned in my previous post. I'm looking for a 028 Super and have run across a 029 Super. For those of you who have used one or the other or both, how do they compare? The one this guy has is in not great, but I'd say very good condition. He says he won't go under $200, seems high to me. Thanks for any feedback.

I'm not a big fan of the 029/290's. There OK for most applications but I don't care for the clam shell design. Jmo. The 028's are built like pro saws. They can be ported and be made to run real good.

I wouldnt even look at a 029 super over $100. JMO.  Dont care for them.  I seen there is a guy selling a 028 super for $210 shipped.

I sold my 028 super I got from a friend in trade once  ( close to new IMO) got around $190 local with b and 2 chains. Just saying shop.

028 and 029 are everywhere. So don't get to hung up on one. I agree with cut, no more then a 100. Just remember on your 028's it is getting harder to find oem parts. If it where me I would try and find a couple 028 in good shape. One to run and the rest for parts. 029 are good saws but I feel most are happier with an 028.
FEAR NO TREE. FEAR GOD.
