That should be taking a good bite if it has Stihl RSC or RSM chain

One of these threads we were talking about having to replace the case when the oiler tank nipple gets broken off.

Guy on the chainsaw repair group just showed a redneck repair he is trying.

Pretty simple repair. save me having to replace the whole tank assembly on a stihl ms290 the Oiler nipple broke off when I was disassembling. Picked up some small brass tubing from the hardware store reamed out the hole just to create a friction fit assembled and then used a little super glue to seal the plastic. Don't even know if I needed the glue the friction fit was very snug. I think you should work just fine.

Guy brought in a 029 he said he has owned since first year offered. Got me curious on the first year the 029 was being sold?  Saw after wiping the thick layer of dust off. Guy said it has been setting for years now.  Well she is ready to go. Was surprised how little I had to do. Also noticed every fastener on it was loose a bit.
Also I have done some rednecking to the stihl fuel lines in the past to keep guys cutting on a Sunday. But this one was alittle different.
HD-5 carb and needs a air filter. Can see through the wire mesh.

Old recall found on 029 039 back in 93-94 while searching for dates made. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/1994/stihl-recalls-certain-model-chain-saws

Maybe this

I found this on the stihl site = Development since 1992
A series of events unfolded one after another in the 1990s that, in retrospect, paved the way to a true success story.
In 1993, production of the 029, 039

Wondering if really a 039. Wouldnt a 039 have screw caps?
Everything is like the older 039 as far as the carb, tank vent etc. But the flippy caps threw me a curve . So did they do flippy run on the 039 before 390?

Per stihl dealer on chainsaw repair group = no. All flip caps came with the 0 moving to the back end.

me  = Going to have to get someone to run the serial number for me then. P+C look like new and got it running after setting for 2 years with old mix. Dang clutch bearing was rusted up too. Not going to pull muffler to measure to see what bore.

Think I figured it out when I checked serial number. There was none. OEM replacement crankcase I bet. Stihl part sticker still under muffler.

The very low use IMO, MS290 hadnt been used for 2 years too. Dumped old mix and all looks good after checking things. All still like new.
Original owners son will be very happy to get his dads saws again. Glad a friend referred me to him.

4  years on the 290 new muffler. Cage broke apart inside. Back in for a muffler.
