I know it's homeowner stuff but the old boy that owns it would really like it running again so I have deemed it needs a carb kit It will fire on choke and then die but I can not find any i d on the carb other than stihl can someone tell me what carb it is and steer me to a carb kit non genuine preferrable then when I have part nos I can check ebay here in oz first cheers

You need to take the carb off the saw to find out what it is. Youre gonna rebuild it anyway.

Ok dropped in on the fellow this morning on my way to work pulled the carb  no numbers just Zama china any help appreciated as I am now non the wiser as to what I need

The carb on the 180 is a ZAMA CARBURETOR C1Q S57C

and it uses this rebuild kit . . .

ZAMA RB-77 Carburetor Rebuild Kit

The numbers are laser etched into the side of the carb. Once cleaned, you will find em.

From experience, you cant just look at the IPL to find the carburetor model which I assume you did?
While this MAY work in the case of the MS180, it is not ALWAYS the case.
I recommend blasting the carb with some carb cleaner (remove all saw hash and fines) and the numbers WILL be there.

I posted the carb #'s before 660 did.  My post didn't show up again.  This is about the third time it's happened.  Whats up?  used reply not quick reply.
