I worked in a busy shop, I very seldom seen a Stihl product that died from use. However, I have seen many that actually died from pure abuse and the lack of proper maintenance!

I've seen several that were clogged so bad they wouldn't run but this one took the cake. Why grass? Pampas grass maybe? And I know they fired it before they bought it so where was it getting air? ??? Only thing I can figure is it was used and returned. Surprisingly, this pawn chain has a really good return policy. I used it once on a $300 compound bow, good bow, just didn't fit my style of shooting(finger release, dying breed). She took a quick glance and handed me cash back, no questions. I think that must be how this saw got back on the floor, someone assumed to much when it was returned. Who knows, I just wish I could have done something to keep someone from getting burned on it.

I cut some more with my $125 024 pawn shop saw today. Emptied the F250 bed with it and some help from the 200T on the small stuff. Great little saw so far. My only other pawn shop saw was a Craftsman Professional/Redmax GZ4000. Lasted 7 or 8 years before losing compression at running temp last winter. Best $100 ever on a pawn saw. I had no clue at the time that it was a Zenoah/Redmax.

Same saw, different topic. Air filters. Both of mine use the little, short one. Mine are worn to the screen, no fabric left. Used OEM are 20.00 if you can find them. any of you 024 users know a usable aftermarket filter?

The 026 being more common, I'm wondering if a 026 filter with 026 cover sitting proud of the motor cover would work. Thanks for any input!!
