10-series McCullochs have had a long, thin spring inside their fuel lines since they were released in 1965.  The AV models have the same spring in the impulse hose as well.

Anti crush springs?

Yep.  Both the fuel lines and impulse lines make a sharp bend, and could collapse without the springs.
