Walbro carb replacement
« on: January 23, 2020, 08:58:28 am »
Still working on that 044.  Was going to rebuild the carb, Walbro HD 17A.  Instead of dragging the ultrasonic cleaner out, tearing carb down, hunting up a rebuild kit, etc. I thought I'd replace it with a non limit cap version.  Anyone know of another carb that would work?

Hope all is well and enjoy the day.

Fred

Why not just pull the caps and rebuild?

Which caps you got red?  Drywall screw into center and remove redneck way.

Here is oem tool to do it. Butttt I just redneck pull them.

I yanked (redneck pulled) them out.  I am assuming the K10HD is the rebuild kit I need.  While we are here, what's the dif between the HD 17A and the HD 17D?  Price for sure but is the D really worth the cost?  They both use the K10HD rebuild kit.

BTW C4F, thanks again for the reply.

Later and hope all is well

Fred

BTW, I have two of these carbs, both from 044s.  Both pass pressure test.  IF they pass pressure test do I really need to rebuild?  Probably will any way but thought I'd ask.

The rubber diaphragms get stiff and stop working good.  Have a pump side and check valve side.

But if carb was working good when you started on saw. IMO no you dont really need to. Easy to pull back off and rebuild.

Only takes about half hour following closely how you took apart to reinstall a kit.

No clue on difference, maybe one old flat cover and other has the intelli cover?

carbs (1 034 and 1 044) in the ultrasonic humming away.  Onward to digging up appropriate kits.
