Go get the saw,don't rush out to buy another just yet nor rush to judgement .

Take the starter off and roll the saw over backwards which if is a screw will unstick it ,piston pin no .If it swallowed a screw most likely the mechanic will deny he caused the problem but you'll know .The dealer won't do anything about so you're wasting time even talking except personal satisfaction for however much that is worth .

If it is the pin the guy was correct .Simple as that .

Rambling on as usual .I landed a low hours Ms 200T from a dealer for 20 bucks .It was assumed it tossed a piston .What had happened was the pin that holds the clutch brake had fallen off and been replaced .The old pin rattled around the underside of the engine and found it's way into the balancing hole of the flywheel .The magnets sucked in in and hung the engine .So the crux of that little story is that strange things can happen and often be misdiagnosed .
