New tool from walbro
« on: November 21, 2013, 09:29:23 am »
Sometimes I think that manufacturers believe we are all stupid or so Ill informed that they can pass off commonly available objects as specialty tools. Walbro is offering this as a specialty tool for cheaning small carb parts.

It will surely do the job but it is really your Aunt Pittypat's stainless tea strainer available at Target for $4 or so!

Here it is on the Walbro page

Well, it's nice to be able to get everything in one place!

Always surprised how many domestic items we use.

I hear you.  Trouble is Aunt PityPat is long gone and none of these new guys know anything other than a tea bag!

What do they want for that thing anyhow?

Chaps me that they can sell us this tool but cant sell us the adjustment tools for the jets that they make...

Don't know couldn't find a price on it. At first I thought 'it must be some sort of joke' but when I saw that they had brochure on it, I figured they were serious. It is not the carb guys who won't sell the adjusting tools (at least in the US) its the friggin EPA who stops them! Some sort of BIG fine if caught selling the tools. OEMs same deal for selling the tools that remove the limiter caps.

Or you can buy a box of Lipton, dump out the orange peko, and have 100 disposable ones for $6!

Or cut the toes off some panty hose. Or use a lint filter from the hardware store. Or sew a small piece of fabric window screen into a pouch. Or a minnow net from a tropical fish store.

I'll bet there is also a lot of stuff at a chemistry supply house too!

(Sorry - a bit of cabin fever from the brutal cold temps).

Seriously, I buy a lot of kitchen stuff at garage sales for workshop use.
