I remember my friend eyeballing it some. He looked at a lot the 2 hrs we were there. I was set on the grinder which works great BTW.

Guido does seem like a nice casual guy when you are around him. I bought a Stihl weed whacker from him that he brought to a GTG.

I think Jeff did three saws last year but this year has not done any. He's been trap shooting.

Hey guys I am new here.  I guess a quick bio with a few candid **** may be in order so here goes.

I own an upscale landscape firm in central Ohio and a few years ago a good buddy straight gassed my favorite MS361.  My local Stihl dealer told nme it would be cheaper to buy a new 362 than to fix the saw so I did, but I spent a little time online and eventually got an aftermarket big bore kit on Ebay and had a local guy install it for me.  Waaaaay less than the new 362 cost me.   Reading, reading, reading, buy some tools, fix a few of my own saws, discover I really like working on saws so I decide to rebuild an 066 so I would have a big saw for the odd times I might need it.  I accidentally buy an old Stihl dealership's remaining stock and trade in saws.   I join arboristsite, become a sponsor so I can advertise my big chainsaw yardsale.   Cut4Fun sends me a message about his ohio based site, and my brain just does nothing about it, because my brain does stupid **** sometimes.  ASite gets hacked, turnout is less than half what I had expected at yardsale but still break even on the whole purchase of the shop in one afternoon.  Hmmmmm... I like saws more now.  Start selling saws n parts on Ebay, locate through heavy research a few good overseas vendors, buy small orders at first to check things our then larger orders to the point I am spending three times what the store cost every month on parts.  more learning and selling, trading, etc.  My son decides college is a waste of time, so he starts selling parts on Ebay, we do real well, he works a few hours a day at most, makes better money than I did when I was twice his age.  crazy world.  I start posting at SawHawgz which has a little less dickish moderation and start learning what other saw guys are looking for in parts, etc.  Sell to a steady group of local guys and pro or semipro builders and plenty of hobbiest guys.  I Give ASite another shot, some wheat amongst the chaff for sure. Cut4Fun gets hold of me again and it occurs to me I should have looked into his site long ago.  So here I am.
I am a dealer for Farmertec, Meteor, Caber, Walbro, Zama, Bing, Tillotson, Oregon and my Stihl dealer likes me (or my money) enough that I can get Stihl parts for guys wh odon't have a good local dealer. Not cheaper but at least can get them what they need in a lot of cases.
so that is about the size of it
I do not have inventory of cool old stuff, but a couple of times a year I visit an old man who is a time capsule of Poulan, Homelite, Mcculloch parts and knowledge, no fax, no computer, just hundreds of drawers and shelves of NOS parts that he last inventoried and priced in the mid 1980's.  If you need some unobtanium for an old saw, put the part numbers in order and get them to me.  He does it all by hand so no jerking him around if you say you want it and he has it, it is time to pay up.  I make nothing on it, he has offered to sell to me a few times, but I just really like to work on Stihls so the rest isn't as interesting to me.

TL;DR!

:)

Dave here is a good guy, stands behind his stuff and is a real deal honest businessman.

A couple of times I headed out that way to pick up stuff, spent more time talking than we did loading.  Good times for sure!

Have you ever priced the total cost to be able to put a china copy 044 440 saw together? Talking all aftermarket parts.

not everything available yet
you can do a 260, 361 and 660 though
I have thought of putting a saw box together for these on Ebay but don't want the hassle of hand holding a newbie who might decide to ruin my feedback by being pissed at not knowing how to build a saw.

Might still figure out box kits and offer to folks here. Most of us here dont need our hands held to do a rebuild. ;)

Nice "kit" prices for a "Hobby" chainsaw.  They are "look alike" classics of all time.
