Minty Stihl 046 Stolen
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:55:11 pm »
My Dad's Stihl 046 Magnum was stolen out of my next door neighbors yard this morning.  He bought it new in 1996 and always kept it in a case.  It still looked almost new.  It was wearing a new 20" Stihl bar.  We have the SN for positive identification.  I don't have it on me hear though.  Here's the saw.

Just to tell another stolen story from around me in the past.

Good friend from work was always asking me what saw to buy if he could afford a pro grade husky.

I told him 372xp, 365, 362xp. He finally saved his pennies and said he was able to buy a 362xp and was happy as one could be.
Well that same year while out cutting on farm land he was the only one allowed to be on. He left all his equipment saw included in the woods and left to eat lunch. Came back in a couple hours and the 362xp was gone.

Never turned up and he bought a a little camo poulan to get him by. I then worked out a deal where he helped me drywall my den (he did this in the past) and I would build him a Partner 500 5000, cant remember which one I did.  It's no 362xp, but it beat the heck out of the little 33cc poulan I muffler modded for him while I was doing the 500-5000 for him.

Labor for Labor and we were both happy.

Excellent news.  I followed a lead we had and recovered the saw this evening, unused, and unharmed.  We're very thankful at a surprise ending to this.  Turns out it was taken be a tree service employee who had stopped to bid on removing the stumps.

Very cool 8). Now you have a heck of a story to pass on when you get that saw on your shelf someday.

That's good you got it back Brad. It sucks you have to put everything up when you are leaving a remote place for a couple minutes.
