Stolen Husqvarna 346 Half Breed Ported
« on: December 01, 2011, 09:38:59 am »
Stolen Husqvarna 346 with ported 357 cylinder and carb, two ring piston. Taken from my shop along with Schumacher battery charger, 8" 3 jaw lathe chuck with Rohm jaws with mounting plate for a rotary table, Aloris Quick Charge tool post with at least 10 holder, holders are marked Aloris, Dorian, one is marked Phase II, all of the holders had tooling in them, all but the knurling and cutoff tools are indexable.
I am sure that it was someone that was in my shop and ran that particular saw. The saw was sitting with a ported 357, ported 359, ported Dolmar 7900, Ported Jonsered 2171. New in the box Husqvarna 390 and a new in the box Stihl 200T. The only saw taken was my 346, the ugliest saw in the bunch. They also stole my good old Eagle fuel can with mixed fuel. I had 3 of those cans in my shop, none marked, one had regular gas , one mixed and one had diesel, they only took the mixed fuel.

Sounds just like you said. They knew the saw and which was mix.

Dang I hate hearing this happening and it just seems to get worse.

Will keep a eye and ear out.

Who ever it was is most likely local and accustom to your habits .I'd imagine the stuff is pretty close to you .

I first read this a couple days ago and it inspired me to remove my saw list from my signature. My actual name and address and my first handle are very traceable on the Internet. I always have kept my saws in several different buildings and locations.

I hope you find your property.

Many times, things like tooling, are not replaceable as it evolved and is custom made just like the 346XP.

I worked at a aircraft maintenance facility and one guy's tool cart and all the tools were stolen. He only worked on one large airplane and his tools were often modified to get a certain part off a P&W R2800 CB16 engine. The insurance company bought him new tools but he had to do the modifying as the necessity arose. I had an idea of the kid who stole them and the thief didn't own an airplane and was not a A&E mechanic. So what was he going to do with a bunch of butchered up old hand tools? There was a new Craftsman cart next to the stolen one that belonged to a new A&E mechanic just out of school that the tools were all new and complete.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

Be all that you can be . . .

I am sure that the people that stole the items from my shop either ran the saw or watched it cut. The people have to know that if I ever heard it run in the area I would here it and know what it is. I have a good idea the saw will be sold and end up in the top side of Pa or maybe lower NY. I just hope that whoever ends up with it takes it in for repairs to someone on this site.
I have more then one plan in the works as I type. I wont stop until I find one of the items in somebody's possession. If I find one item, I am sure I can extract enough information from that person to find the thieves.
The local police department is a joke. They "investigated the crime". That means they came to my house and filled out a report, asked what all was missing. They never asked how they got in, or if the building was locked and never went from my house to my shop to look. That would have had to waddle and extra 20 or 30 feet to look in my shop.

Just seems odd to me they'd snatch one pizzy azzed little 346 and leave the rest plus snatch the lathe tooling so you'd have a tough time carving out another .Plus saw gas of all things .Odd indeed but there might be a connection .
