Nice. I wish I could weld.  My nephew is in welding school now. Hopefully he become good at it.

Castings like those need a lot of cleaning to make a nice weld.  Especially magnesium

I find old Harley alum some of the worst to clean/ weld...

Old school sand cast aluminum is most likely 356 alloy
