Re: hda carb fix

I bought my 357 before knowing that the carb had an accelerator pump. Mine is a 2008 with the Walbro.

It was initially set too lean on the idle and when cold, would start to die out at idle. You could wiggle the trigger and it would pick up and go just like an old car before fuel injection. So I quickly decided it had an accelerator pump. This was particularly bad just up off idle. To tune the low speed without touching the throttle seemed to get away from this?

I do seem to need to check the high speed tuning before using if the season has changed since I last used it. Significant ambient air temperature changes seem to affect the high speed mixture. The stock engine is rather highly tuned and will four stroke at 14500 so I use a tachometer on this one to keep it calmed down when going into warmer weather from cold.

My 357 seems to run just fine now but I've been suspicious of the carb since owning it from reading all the stuff on the Internet. Other than what's mentioned above, I cannot see any problem with it.
