Have fun, if someone can find an old loop of 33LG watch out.

I have a partial roll and 2 new loops in 33LG made.  Its in the list of choices in first post.

My friend likes the 33LG on the 16" 353 I set him up with.

050 is the poplar chain in my area not 058.   I cant give 058 away.

The stock ones are being run untouched. They are to compare to the work and race chains we are doing in the chain build off.
Do one up Art. ;)

You would have trouble giving .050 chain away in regular .325 or 3/8", except in certain areas of the US. .050 also is a quite meaningless gauge today, as it just is .058 chain with stamped down drive tangs.

Also, I suspect many of the voters here  never really compared RS/RSC to LP/LPX, as there is no doubt the LP/LPX is the fastest cutter. The difference isn't large, but it is consistent in the comparisons I have done (21LP vs. 25RSC). I happily use both for practical cutting - but that's where it stops with .325 chain.

I suspect the votes reflect how the different chains looks, and not how they actually cuts (dangerous statement, but so be it).

I've only used one 325 chisel loop in the last 6-8 years. It was RS to try on the bars the dirty hippy sent me. I got Oregon since that's what Stevess had to give me at that gtg. I would liked to have done a race chain but no tools to do that in the motel.

I think they both cut well. I have found that Stihl chain holds the edge longer than Oregon chain. But in general I have found the Oregon chain is faster with how I file my regular work chains
FEAR NO TREE. FEAR GOD.

I am going to try and run all 4 stock chains in the same 1.5' section of cant. That way they are all in equal wood all at same time and no knots etc  No excuses then.  ;)

What I am really wanting to see. Is the 3/16 stock LPX really 8% faster then the smaller 5/32 LG33 it replaced. Just the cutter difference in file size should cover that I would think.  That was LP, would think the LPX would cut same or faster then the LP
Then I have a 3/16 filed LG33 to throw in there as I just hit the front of cutters on a new chain.

Found it in my old oregon 33LG thread here. 8% bucking, 18% boring   http://www.oregonproducts.com/pdf/chain/20lp_flyer.pdf

Super Oregon 20 Series
20LP, 21LP, 22LP
.325”-pitch pro chain
20LP makes fast bias cuts
• 6% faster than it’s
predecessor, 33LG
20LP makes faster bucking cuts
• 8% faster than 33LG

20LP makes the fastest boring cuts
• 18% faster than 33LG

That's what Oregon used to state, and 30 series LG has been history for a while now. I believe the similar Stihl TS was discontinued even earlier.

The way I seen these stock chains in the cut.

K1L felt slow and rough through cuts. Vibrations.

33LG felt smooth through the cuts and faster then Carlton.

RS felt faster again but more vibrations felt in the cut = rough.

LPX felt smooth through the cuts. Cut better then I thought it would stock with the gullets the way they are from the factory. Felt like it cut with or close to RS.

Yes stock  LPX was faster the the stock LG33

Think the stock LGX was also faster stock then my 3/16 round filed touch up cutters on LG33 too.
