Any reviews of the 181? One has popped up on local craigslist.

I think they are a good saw.  Nicely built, firm feel in your hands, not too heavy.  The cylinder cover is a bastard to put back on because of the throttle link and the air filter boot.

Nothing wrong with owning that chainsaw. That would be a good blocker.

But it has been messaged a little bit.

Saw looks strong. I may have to see about getting that one on craigslist. Same bore and stroke as a 681.

It's a little messed with, I cut 0.040" out of the squish to make a 272 piston work in it.  They have a tiny combustion chamber to being with so I had to cut the camber wider to increase the combustion chamber or it would have pull around 260 psi.  It currently pulls around 220 psi and has a nice combustion chamber shape.

Yeah that is a tiny chamber. It may be a fun saw to play with pretty cheap.

It's hard to see but there are two angles besides the squish band that I cut in there to smooth out the turn and to enlarge the combustion chamber.  Not the worst I've had to do, I had to cut three angles on my 288 after taking 0.080" our of the squish.

Did you have 300 lbs of compression on the 288 before you opened the chamber?

I didn't even try it.
