Homelite 550
« on: October 05, 2011, 04:31:16 pm »
Picked this saw up off Craigslist the other night for a decent price and it was a easy fixer, the seller claimed his dad bought the saw new in the mid 70's. Had to put the recoil rope back into the saw, repair the fuel line, adjust the carb and add new fuel. This saw has tremendous compression and runs like a scalded dog. The only current issue is part of the muffler is missing and it has a "rattle can" paint job. I am looking to add a 28" sprocket nose bar and 3/8" full chisel chain.

Big Dave Nieger had  a 550 souped with a pipe .Because it was bottom exhaust the pipe had to exit through the bottom of course .

The pipe wasn't exactly right so it took some doing to keep the R's in the right range .If it was in resonance range though that thing would fly .
