181se opinions?
« on: March 21, 2013, 04:31:10 pm »
I was just given a 181se. This is the first 181 I've ever held in my hands. I would just like to hear some opinions on them and the other models that share parts with them. I just cleaned it up today it will idle and run some with choke. the diaphams look pretty bad so I have a carb kit on the way after that she should run great. I have a 372 and 294 the compression release is nice I feel like I'm going to break the pull cord every pull.

I like it. A lot of d-firs felt the wrath of those here. To save wear and tear on fingers and ropes, pull the rope slowly until you feel resistance then give it a quick firm yank.

181-281-288 are in the same family like 266-268-272-61-66 are in the same family.  Nearly bulletproof I love mine.  Lots of torque in the cut.

thanks for the reply guys. I'll try that starting tip when I get her all tuned up. I sure like the simplicity of this age saw the tillotson carb is nice and big makes it easyer to work on and theres minimal small plastic do hickies in and around the carb.
