Tore the saw down a little further.  Looks like it was getting too much gas.  In the photo I had gas running out of the center intake that sends the gas/air mix into the cylinder. It at least started and ran until this last time I tore it down to clean it out.  Something must be up with the carb if too much gas is getting the cylinder.  Any ideas?

WAG  inlet valve stuck,  flooded it trying to start.

Did you rebuild carb?

Haven't rebuilt carb yet.  That's next on the list of things to do.  Haven't changed the H and L needles so I have to presume they haven't changed.

Why would I do something silly like that? ;D It's much more fun to just take things apart to see how they work!  My brother and I tore a laptop apart once to see what made it tick.  Put it back together and it worked!

Naw not far enough. Remove the tank. Split the crankcase and take the crankshaft out if you want fun.  ;) ;D

It's been awhile since my last post, the holidays and all.  Now I really need to get at least one of my saws up and running.  ::)  Just to refresh, I had a smoking problem with my 55.  It would run for a while and then smoke would roll out from around the cylinder head.  Just pulled the cylinder head and found some pretty serious scoring of the piston and the cylinder (see the pics.  Wondering what the general thoughts are?  Should I replace the piston and head?  The piston is so scored that I can't remove the ring without prying it off.
