Probably too lean on top end or it could be too rich. I would have to be there and listen to know the difference. If too rich it is probably smoking?

Maybe if you elaborated with what led up to this problem?

Yes, need more info. Rare problem for sure.

Check the spark screen.

Already checked the spark screen.  It was fine with a little carbon buildup, but I took care of that.

Not sure why this is occurring.  I've only cut ~ 20 cord with this saw and it was brand new when I purchased it.  I've used the same fuel mixture throughout the life of this saw and all of the other saws I've owned with no other previous problems.

When I start the saw, it doesn't seem to want to go to high rev "status".  Thus, when I try to cut it takes for ever because I can't get the rpms up.  It doesn't smoke, just won't rev up.  It also doesn't die on idle, but will sit and idle fine.

Apparently the high speed mixture needle is set too lean? You will need to open it up some.

If it is against the plastic limiter tab on the needle, you will need to cut the tabs off.

Take the bar and chain off then see if it'll run better...

Carb settings don't change unless you changed them, did you switch to crapola gas which need to be set richer to run. Have you been using craploa gas, if so your carb is gunked up and needs cleaning.   Also if you've been using crapola gas check the fuel line.    Steve

Man, I wouldn't try and cut with the saw running like that. It's too good a saw to burn up. Take it to a good shop and have it check out, if you're not up to fixin it. Tell ya what, pull the muffler and take a look at the piston and tell us what condition it's in. Check the fuel line real good also.
