so whats this new saw you guys speak of? ::)

You had a factory Beta test one to try out for a trial but you will not tell us about it?

660mag, I would say all of them are bound by legal agreements like Neil talks about in Australia.

I seen the fiasco a tester for stihl once  got in posting pics of MS461.

Then pics of the  stolen test MS201T.  Heck those pics are still here.

I could well imagine the trouble it will cause if pic's are posted on prototypes, especially a new design the opposition does not have.
A couple of things on the subject I do know is,,,,
..The major manufacturers are spending big on new designs, they are also buying technology from other smaller manufacturers for ideas which they are adding to their own concepts.
..Sample saws are being built (without a patent) and tested in countries with the potential to sell the product.
..Some work well, some do not, some need adjusting or tweaking etc. etc.
..Some test well but are shelved for the future, for various reasons.
..Test saws are meant to be worked hard in the every day practice it is intended for, it the saw breaks for what ever reason, its no worry to them as they can look at how to rectify the problem. And so it goes, getting hours on the machine and reporting on its progress, then they recall them and strip them to assess the wear.
.. There are a lot of factors considered when a new product is introduced globally and sometimes they are tested in 1 country 1st.

Here in Oz, stories go round all the time in the timber industry, blokes yap on about this sort of stuff. Some times the bush grape vine is right, mostly its not.

I've seen a picture of the saw as it was accidentally setting amongst several other chainsaws in the background of a picture. But there was no detail. None of this really means anything as between then and when the saw is finally introduced, there will likely have been many changes. Likewise, what these people would have to say about the new chainsaw would be meaningless as the example was not a production model. We'll just have to wait and see what comes out.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

I agree, talk is just talk, my guess is it can be something if it come from the wrong person to start with and others add a little.
I'm also guessing a test saw isn't even given a name at that point just perhaps a test number. (guessing that of coarse)

an example of bush talk,,,,
years ago (here in oz) when the 394 was a very popular log falling saw, a bloody lot used them including myself, the 3120 was my 1st choice in old growth.
Some where along the line, talk started on a new husky coming out, better, smoother, bigger and most of the talk was about a new 3120 with more power. This was thought (by some know all's) in response to the new stihl 088.
When the new saw did finally arrive it was not a 3120 but a 395. We still have the same old 3120, which as every body knows has not changed much since it introduction.

Reading that it has an inboard clutch should not be a reason to draw automatic conclusions. Picking it up might reveal the saw to be a great handler. The 372 has an inboard clutch and people don't complain that it handles poorly. The impact of clutch location on a larger frame 70cc saw is different than on a smaller frame 50cc saw.

I agree that the impact is smaller than on smaller saws, and the bar that is on the saw surely is a factor.

However, lots of people have said that they prefere the handling of the 272xp over the handling of the 372xp, and I am sure that is caused mainly by the outboard vs. inboard clutch!  ;)
I'll be the first to admit I like my 272's handling over my 372. I like limbing and bucking big hardwood with my 272XP and it's nicely balanced inside centered b/c sure is nice to work with. The bulkier wide spread to the right 372 b/c makes me feel like I'm all thumbs ha ha.
But since I got my 562XP with outboard clutch I have since put my 272 into retirement, hoping one day to get it full race modded.

I also prefer the handling of my 272XP over the 372XP's that I've ran.

Quote from: Maine logger88
I was at a husky dealer today and he was talking about some prototype 572s that husky had sent him to try he said that they worked good and were less weight than a 372xt and would out cut them I was Wondering if anyone on here had tryed one of these prototypes yet and if they had how they liked them. He said that there was no word on how long before they would be able to be bought but I would definitely like to try one when they are available
