I've put 064 pistons in Solo 680's and just recently was toying with a BB044 piston and one other that I can't remember in a stroked 680...

2100 piston in a 394 jug that's on a 181 with an 084 carb...

Adam32....How many beers did it take to come up with that combination? My hat is off to you!

Likely a lot, as it sounds really creative!  8)

To come up with these way-out swaps, you need to have all the parts laying around to measure and trial fit them.

I did have all the parts, just not what you would want to use in a saw. Once I do all the measuring and math to prove that mathematically it will work. I then order/assemble all the new parts and go through the measure/math process again to make sure.

OBTW, Adam32's franken saw looks like it will work 2100/394 share the same bore 56mm, 181/394 same 38mm stroke, as well as what looks to be the same cylinder bolt pattern, 2100 had a 40mm stroke, so perhaps some metal would have to be removed from the skirt to clear the crank throws. Have not checked out the 084 carb yet. But you can bet your jazz I am going to try it the next time I get a 281/288/394 in as scrap!

It also appears that the Stihl 056/084 share the same Tilly carburetor but can't be directly used without changing it to take an internal rather than an external pulse.

I wish I could say I came up with it! It was from the brain of Rupedoggy, he built it and started it once then put it in the corner. I spotted it and got it from him. Two-piece head too. The carb doesn't bolt up, you would need to build a manifold. I've taken it apart and it looks like it's not much work to make the swap. The flywheel side transfer port needed some relieving to clear the flywheel and the muffler needed fitting. I don't think it was worth the hassle, a 395 I built will smoke it.

Good to know, thank you. I guess that I'll not be trying it. Most AM manufacturers show the 394 and 2101 piston as being interchangeable e.g. the same piston but I cannot find specs on the 2101 piston to prove it!

Oh I think it has potential, especially for a cheater saw! lol! I think his porting is a bit off is why is doesn't keep up with mine and the head is strange, if I improve those two things it'd probably scream! Or just do a mild port job without a head and it would probably be a cool little saw.
