i have done the conversion to 266 models, both xp and se versions, with aftermarket 272 cylinder piston and intake assembly, getting the screws for intake assembly were the hardest,  didnt have to cut or trim anything and had no tuning issues.  cover fits as well

Spike I have a question. Was the 268xp a US only model? Seen tons of open port 268s up here in Eastern Canada but never a XP model.
Yes the 268XP was a Canadian model too, out in western Canada anyways. When the Stihl 044 came out 1988-89 the Husky 268XP was it's competition as I strongly remember when I worked for Stihl Canada.

Who was the Western importer for Husky. Buchaneer Ind was the East Coast importer. I know some models were different on the West side.
