I don't think it's the key .I had the flywheel off, replaced both seals etc ,seemed okay.Switched carbs from a known good runner.switched coils ,no dice .

This is an early model with an aluminum muffler .Loads up badly, ignites the spent fuel ,poof fire in the hole .You'd be surprised how how far you can fling a fired up little chainsaw when that happens . ;D

I've got three of these little saws .My original I bought new,Dayton has a steel muffler ,this on an aluminum muff and another with just an exhaust stub pipe .Two of three run just fine .

Interesting to note these things weigh about the same as Stihl O20AV top handle and cut at nearly the same speed maybe a tad faster .

Maybe the flywheel key sheared and the timing's off now?

I already flipped the reed to no avail.Oh I'll get back on  it and figure it out----some day . ;) Not a big deal as I have two good runner S-25 models, two MS 200T Stihls and another small Poulan to act as climbing saws .In addition to several light weight rear handles models that are real handy for bucket truck work .--I haven't flew a bucket for 2-3 years .

I got a reed etc if needed Al.  Off S25DA

Saving more info from hotshot  =  Poulan 530019059 micro series seals are the exact same as Homelite Super 2 & XL2 part number 94638.

About half the price are the SKF 4913 equivalents from the bearing hardware houses like Motion Industries or Fastenal.

The reed has to be leaking. Go in there and turn it over?

That damned little saw about drove me bonkers .It's been banned to the shelf until I regain my composuer which might be forever.

That little bastage back fired and caught fire on me three times so far .I don't know if its' the reed, screwed up carb or what it is.It's been on the shelf for at least two years and I'm not over my mad on yet . >:(

HVA 'obsoleting' these seals really pissed me off.  I have about 5-7 or so (funny that I can't remember the exact # right now.....too many projects) XXV variants waiting for crank seals (I won't put an old saw back in service without doing seals anymore).  Tried last year to order enough 530019051's to do the whole lot, and got my money refunded for them during the process.  I'm mostly annoyed with myself for not ordering a bunch of these seals earlier when they were still a stocking Poulan/Husky part...

For some reason, the SKF/CR 5510 and National 313156 seals are somewhat expensive........................and special order items.  Strange, since they come up as a transfer case and MT shift shaft seal for many vehicles.  Hmmmm.......that reminds me that I have an NOS Ford TC rebuild kit in a box of parts in the shop.  Wonder if I have a couple XXV series seals waiting on hand after all......

Update:

The Poulan 530019051 seals are now NLA (as of last Summer).  SKF/CR-5510 is a good aftermarket replacement.  National/Timken 313156 is a good # too (and is available through many auto parts outlets).

Good to know Aaron thanks for posting that.

Yeah some times that stuff gets superceded with another number .Most of us have those IPL's that might be 30 plus years old . Like Stihl ,I think mine go up to maybe the late 90's but that's 20 years ago .Doesn't seem that long ago but time does fly ya know .

On the subject though I think with generic size excluding those bastard sized Stihl seals you could find them for just about anything .

Now in a genaral conversation of seals the last Stihl seals I got from a dealer were a bluish color .I speculate they might be a different material to combat ethanol deteriation .I wonder with that in mind if those might be a different number than the older traditional black buna -n seals .

It's possible the s-25  number may have been superceded by another .Does anyone have the Husqvarna number on that seal ?

Al the 530019051 seal is still available through Poulan and Husqvarna parts outlets.

Edit:

I just realized that you were talking about the possibility of a newer Husqvarna # that we may be able to use in the cross-ref books and sites.

I have no idea, but maybe one these IPLs will be useful.

The 530019051 seal doesn't come up with a hit, but I did get a hit for the 530019059 seal for the Poulan Micros.  Had to search as "19059" without the "5300" prefix.  Same trick didn't work for the 19051 seal.

The SKF # for the Poulan 530019059 is 4913.

I do not understand how the cross reference works on the link you gave.     I have Poulan 475 I am trying to find the clutch side seal part# 503422201.   Now how do I cross reference that number to something else?

Does your interchange book have a CR # for a Poulan 530019059?  That's a seal for a Micro series saw.

You're probabley right about price .Those danged bearing houses like to charge you extra on a special order although they do place orders periodically themselves and could just as easily  add your order in when they order .You have to watch them because they can be slippery as an eel .

Sure enough I found it by generic size in my regular CR book but not by the Poulan number in the interchange book ,strange indeed ..563 shaft ,.813 bore ,.188 width ,type/style HMSA1 ,double lip ,lip code r ,nitrile .

Some times that interchange book works and some time it does not .

I've got a bunch of seal and bearing books but as of yet have never found a good online cross reference without e-mailing one of 6 zillion seal and bearing houses .--thanks for the info --

The CR/SKF # for the 530019051 crank seals is 5510.  That seal is 13/16" x 9/16" x 1/8".  Not sure if they can be gotten any cheaper than the actual Poulan part (530019051), which is still available through Husqvarna dealers.

Oh shucks I just ordered them from Jacks a few hours ago .Actualy I ordered  three just in case .I've got two s-25s' myself plus the one I'm working on .

A guy really can't complain too much because those saws were made in the mid 70's .I've certainly changed a bunch of seals on Stihls that didn't go nearly that long .

You know I look back on my stupidity in this whole thing .I knew better but kept thinking in my pea mind it had to be the danged carb .Dumb thing is when others have had the same problem I have advised them to check the seals .I guess I should practice what I preach or get my head outta my butt . :D

Al, I have (2) of those seals left in stock. $4.00 each. Shipping will be around $5.00, if you take one of them or both of them. David

Actually some Stihl seals do .Unfortunately not the ones you want though being the clutch side seals .After moaning about the prices I've just resolved myself to pony up the money and not worry about it .Dang though 20 bucks for a 5 dollar seal indeed .Humbug !

Ha I just got off the phone from Jacks after amusing the sales lady with my farmer talk about things .They have to order them and I could not pry the cross number from her which she might not have known anyway .

I've went that route with McCulloch seals but it's about as easy to order them from Randy  in Seamans Ohio rather than fool around with the local Kaman bearing and take a month of Sundays to get them .

Even with the right number it stihl does not cross reference to C-R

Yeah I put in one too many zeros .Found it too .Jacks small engine $4.20 a pop .thanks .

The reason it will not cross reference is that you have the number wrong. The number is 530019051   You had one too many zeros.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-POULAN-CRANKSHAFT-OIL-SEAL-FITS-S25-S25AV-S25DA-530019051-L-K-OEM-/150780466342?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231b3754a6

You get a 1,000 hits on Google with the good number.

My wifes cousin has a bad back so I found him an s-25 for next to nothing on flea bay a few years back .He isn't much of a saw mechanic so periodically I turn a wrench on it .

So it all starts out this time with running it with no  filter and sucking in a seed of some sort that got lodged in the little reed valve ,odd .Fixed that that .ran for a few days then it got impossible to start ,fixed the carb .

Good to go a few more days, back again .Well now what ?Fiddled ,twiddled farted around .

No start even with a prime ,a little putt now and then .Jerked the rope out of the starter .Then it dawned on me ,crankcase seal ,I'm slow on the uptake at times .I heard that SOB weezing as it was pulling over but slow as a snail at times it never dawned on me why in spite of a liberal amount of prime why the plug was dry .

I've found a seal on flea bay but for some reason I can't cross reference it with my master interchange book from Chicago Rawhide .Part number 5300019051,any ideas .
