In the early 90's ,my first wife and I were taking a leisurely ride down back country roads near a very progressive and populous part of Alabama. We came up on a flat bridge with no railings. I took notice that the pulp wood trucks didn't use the bridge but forded the creek that it crossed.
The usual situation was that the woods log trucks didn't carry their loads very far. There would be a railroad siding within 10-15 miles where the loads were transfered by hand to a pulpwood car to be taken to the paper mill which may be a 100 or more miles away.

In the early 50's these trucks were typically the bare minimum to get the job done. Doors were just in the way and unnecessary.
In this picture, I would say that this trucks doors were damaged and removed . . . The highway patrol made them source other doors?

Those are great pictures. I did not grow up around the woods or any of the harvesting of wood that is used for many different purposes, so I like seeing the old pictures of what was done, why, and the equipment that was used.

When I was young worked for pulp wood loggers using mostly Poulan Super 68s and 72s cutting short wood for a local paper mill. I once had a mostly worn out I believe to be a silver 86 and a beige 72 that was in good shape. I never knew what the displacement was on any poulan saw and have used 54s up to 92s. What is the displacement of the 54, 66,68,72 and 92? I know where a very clean green 54 is with low hrs. I know they changed the color from beige to lime green some time in the early 70s.
