Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

The 1128 140 1001 filter cover is the one that you need. Looked through some parts list and technical service pages.

So will the cover ending in 1001 fit my 2000 model? I have seen a few online for sale brand new for around $20 or so. Mine has a couple cracks on the top corners. Was thinking of buying the larger cylinder cover plastic as well since the two side covers cleaned up somewhat nice, and have it look like new. If I can invest a little cash in her with OEM parts it will up the resale slightly lol.

I've had many of stihl parts with numbers molded in them that wasnt the actual part number. Maybe the case?
Scott username chainsawr shows this one with a number I cant tell.

Yes a cover and I guess also asking what's the difference in the 0501,0503,0504 and 1001. My saw is a 2000 model if that helps.

Your just looking for a stihl 046 air filter cover?

Here is my cover.

I can only find the 1128 140 1001 filter cover for the 046. The 1128 141 0503 or 1128 141 0501 are no valid part numbers. I`ve often seen that the number on the part printed is not the right part number for that part. The right number is always in the IPL.

I have a 046 with # 1128 141 0503. My question is which one is compatible either the 0501 or the 128 140 1001 possibly? Can't find a 0503 online.
