If you decide to sell a plastic worm gear I would be interested in one.
Pretty sure you were the last guy I sent one too.

Well Yes but I do have 5 of those saws after all to keep maintained.
Was just saying. Thats when I took count of how many I had left. 2 have come in broke on saws I had to replace here myself.
But you will be first to know. ;)
How many of yours use the plastic worm gear? Guessing 4 out 5

@ParagonBuilder
Got a message on my chainsaw repair facebook you were looking for info. Here is where I keep info in my old file cabinet.
Right now not selling any plastic ones even though I have NOS and used ones. I can check to see how many NOS and used metal ones I have left.
3 styles total I have found. Furthest on right was the metal worm gear upgrade later on.

For the folks that was following the worm gear deal, plastic newer and metal older.
That 445 I was testing today is the one that had the older 415 475 metal worm gear in it. Oiling great in the cuts.

If you recall I had a small engine shop calling about wanting a plastic worm gear for the jonsered 2083. I have them but dont want to sell anymore of mine. Being I use these saws still. Both are NLA metal and plastic. But the metal ones was used on the early run of the saws. Jonsered 2077 Poulan 415 475.
So I been wondering if we could reverse engineer this. Metal in place of the plastic worm gears. The later 2083 2077 poulan 425 445 505 used the plastic gear and updated pto crank bearing and seal combo.
Here is the early 415 475 updated replacement that was offered, then 415 475 metal and then the latest one.
It does work on the 445 I just tested on. No cutting trials though. Both saws are still projects but the 445 is running.
