Title: Pick up a project saw yesterday - Stihl 044

And yes It's a project saw It came in a box

Here is the top of the cylinder

I will be able to save the cylinder after doing some TLC to it

This will be the first 10 mm that I have worked on I didn't know what I had becuase I hadn't seen this type of head before with the angle of the fins   ;D

Box saw projects are neat in a way.  You really get to see what you accomplished when you are done with them.   8) 8)

Well they are a lot better if all the pieces are there .

There is just about two of everything in the box

But rear handle; seems the guy who had it smashed the handle with his axe

I've been in contact with another guy that has a rear handle but it's from a newer saw

Well tell that guy not to beat on a saw with an axe .I've been tempted to at times though myself .

I found another handle and have piston and rings coming  ;)
