Title: Aftermarket rings
Post by: farmboy on December 11, 2012, 09:51:24 am
Anybody know or have used NPR (Nippon Piston Ring) rings?  Looking @ some for my Husky's.  They are a couple bucks cheaper than Caber.

Caber is #1

You will have to try the Nippon's and let us know how they are?

I've tried some no name AFM ones from cutters choice in the past. Have no clue of a given name, but they have held up good in stock and ported gas work saws.

They dont like alky/nitro mixtures though in racesaws.    Turn blue and no compression real quick.

Why would anyone want to take a chance just to save a couple of dollars?

I did a little research on Caber and it looks like they have a very wide assortment of piston rings for about anything .

In a way relatively speaking this two cycle stuff is rather new to me .However nearly all my adult life I've tinkered with old stuff like tractor engines .I have never had a problem finding piston rings for them .Most of them for those of the Woverine state are made in Muskegon Mich which seems to be the piston ring capitol of the world or was at one time .
