Do you want this option here?
Basically a LIKE or Dislike feature like V-bulletin sites use. Personally I never cared for it, but seems to be something the younger crowd is into. Do you feel I should enable this option here?
It is called Karma here. Karma is a feature that shows the popularity of a member. Members, if allowed, can 'applaud' or 'smite' other members, which is how their popularity is calculated.
I would say more for liking a good post or a disliking a idiot type post. JMO

Worse case scenario I just turn it back off and someones feeling get hurt.

It says 1 applaud Karma per hour if giving to same person. So if trying to give to same person. 1 per hour or so.

Really I just gave you an applause and took it away and then gave it back again. I guess yours is not working because mine works just fine.

Heck if I know. It is just stuff people have earned while here. I just never enabled it.
Like 10 post 100 post, being here a year 2 3 etc.

That looks like a history of different items I have used on the forum or changes that I have made in the forum. That is pretty cool that the software tracks all that.

All I know is it says there is a total of 68 badges awarded. You have 21 and one of my usernames has 25. I have no clue what the others are to get 68. ???

Just thought of something it could be. Only 2 of you have Global Mod settings.
660mag can you see the above stuff on your username? Can you click like and dislike of others and see your own karma?

From looking at it further I think what it does, is that it gives you a badge for using the different features that are available in the forum software. The more features you use the more badges you will get. It also has badges for reaching a different milestone such as 100 posts.

I like the badges. It makes things alittle more interesting and it does have my curiosity.

I went to where it says list all badges and looked at them. No big deal if you cannot get them all it's still pretty cool I think.
I realize it only shows the ones that I have obtained by the way.

There are no options to applaud /smite or like / dislike showing up for me. I can see Karma under my name (0/0) and others names, but no options to click.
Is there some minimum post requirement to be able to do this? I don't post much (I'm only up in the 50's for posting), since I'm a neophyte when it comes to repairing chainsaws.

Yeah, I can see that I'm 1/0 now. I just can't give any likes or dislikes myself.

Well the Karma is for you to give a like or dislike for someone else other than yourself. Let's say someone posted something that was helpful to you then you can put a like in under their Karma. So looking at your own name you will not see the like or dislike it will only show up under everyone else's.

Just so you know my username cut4fun over on CompetitionSaws is like this.
Nothing I can figure out to do about it either. Has to be a software glitch or a setting somewhere maybe in users account. I'm clueless as usual.

I have never been able to use the like-dislike function. Originally it would show up in the first post but would not function if I clicked on it. Now it doesn't show up at all.

Going in to disable and try and reset it by enabling again.

I reset it to just show a total now. That way the people showing neg dont show. It just subtracts from their total now.
See if the stuff works now or not?

I can see the Karma number just fine, but still don't have any "Like/Dislike" buttons showing anywhere

Reset back to original way. Software glitch through the provider IMO. Nothing else I can change and do, checked all permission settings like they told me to check.

I did that and still nothing any different.
I cleaned out my cookies for Create a Forum as well as Chainsaw Repair and still nothing.
I'm thinking that the Karma is somehow connected to Facebook someway? But I'm not seeing any Java Script permissions for Facebook either.

I keep accumulating 'likes' but still cannot give any out. Never see the red and blue buttons. I have used IE, Google Chrome and FireFox but nothing. I don't even know how people are giving them to me. Could it have something to do with being an administrator?
From all the posts on this subject it appears that normal users are the ones who complain that it doesn't work, yet the folks that say it works are all administrators or moderators. There is one way to find out, take away admin/mod priv from an admin/mod and see if the function goes away.
OBTW, how does one become an admin/mod?

There is a glitch and some folks can click like dislike and some cant. Nothing I can do about it on my end already tried.
I own the site and only admin. I choose the mods too. Sometimes I remove some when they are only on the site every now then. Then add some as needed.
Man of Stihl was a mod and didnt work for him. 660 mag is a mod and I think I recall him saying it dont work for him. ;)

I can not see them either and I have Adblock & Noscript turned off for this site. I normally use Firefox but have also used Chrome. I've tried it as Moderator and not Moderator and never seen them

Just like the other site I do that uses this software. I can see them with 1 name and not the other. Just a glitch that they dont care about fixing I reckon. Really not important IMO.
I do give likes to you all with great informative post.

Still not showing the like/dislike button for me. I've tried both with Firefox and Safari (the only two browsers I use), and on my iPhone. No luck on any of them.
Is there any chance you have to hit some minimum number of posts before this feature is enabled? (might be a way to keep someone from popping and and just playing games with it). I don't post much, since I'm way behind most of you in my knowledge of chainsaws, but I do really appreciate the good information I've found here.

I use fire Fox or Chromium on Unix and don't see the "likes" icon. Adblock is turned off for create a Forum and all available scripts are OK'd for this site.

I still think it has something to do with some other parameter or some arcane combination of parameters that when entered/changed is some specific order exposes the bug. I could not do it at all, then Kevin made me a mod now it works as it should. Jim perhaps Kevin could turn off your Mod status and then turn it back on just to see what happens, he could turn my mod status off as well and turn it back on just to see if it changes since it works now it may not when turned back on.

I didn't mean to cause Kevin a whole lot of extra work. Having access to it is not that big a deal to me. I jusr wanted to do my part to let folks know their efforts are appreciated
